“Home is where one hails from…but is also the places one has camped, sojourned and lived during the course of one’s own lifetime.
Home is a relationship lived between us…a sense of ‘being at home in the world’ – even as we go our separate ways.”
~ Michael Jackson, anthropologist
At Home in the World
Thanks to everyone who has travelled with me this year – you mean more than you know. Have a wonderful Christmas. See you in 2014!
Where will you be this Christmas?
Hi Alarna, Happy holidays from Kenya! Melbourne sounds like a great place to spend the remaining days of the year. Enjoy!
Wow, back to Kenya! It’s a challenge to keep up with your movements – but then, such is the life of a canary, right? 😉 Have a wonderful Christmas, will you be there long?
Happy holidays and a very happy Christmas eve to you! I will be in Western Massachusetts, USA. I would like to be in small town outside of Portland, Oregon, USA Perhaps next year. (Or celebrating the summer solstice in Melbourne!)
I hope you have a lovely holiday and rest of the year! 2014 is going to be good!
Thank you very much! Massachusetts – you will be in for a proper, white Christmas then, from what I understand. I’ve been hearing lots of good things about Portland lately. But I hope you do get to join us for Melbourne’s summer solstice oneday – we will be having a barbeque (or ‘barbie’ as they call it here) and 31 degrees (or 88 F) this year! 2014 is going to be good – we will make it so! 🙂
The white stuff has left us, much to everyone’s dismay. It’s supposed to snow tonight … here’s hoping it snows more than they are expecting.
Melbourne is one of the places in the world I’d love to see. Quite a few years ago I ended up in Tokyo for a couple of weeks and I really wanted to hop over to Australia and wander around the country for a bit, but the trip wasn’t structured that way. Now I’d make it happen, then I was sure I’d be traveling all the time.
Yes we are going to make 2014 ours!
Beautiful post! I love this time of year! Merry Christmas!
Cheers, Evie! Hope it’s a riot for you (in all the best ways!) 🙂
Merry Christmas beautiful Alarna! And, my best wishes for the New Year. Peace, good health and happiness. May all your dreams come true in the New Year!
Thank you, gorgeous Rita! I send the same warm wishes back your way. Have a great time with your family, too. I’m so glad the sun is turning it on for your folks (at last!).
Happy Christmas, dear Alarna with lots of laughter and good things, love Valerie
Thank you, lovely Valerie! I hope you are surrounded by your beautiful family and lots of love for the year ahead xo
Merry Christmas from Illinois 🙂
Home of the bald eagle! Merry Christmas, Boomie 🙂
Merry Christmas and love, laughter and light from Florida. 🙂
Florida! I’ve been meeting quite a few people from there. I’m envious of your climate! Lots of love from afar, Lynne 🙂
Have a lovely Christmas, Alarna! But, I need space to go wild loudly!! In my family we dance the whole night of the 24th, play instruments and eat! My family does not know quietly. LOL! Feliz Navidad!
Haha! By all means, go wild Loudly! I’ll cheer you from here (quietly, *chink*) 🙂
Merry Christmas!! Have a magical holiday!! I will be at home (Texas) with my family. Nothing better than that. No travel this year, no visitors. Easy peasy lemon squeeazy.
xoxo
Oh, yes – sometimes simple is better! Have a great day, and relaxing time at home – our Christmas day is nearly over now, as yours just begins 🙂 xoxo
I will be spending xmas day with my family in the cold of upstate New York and then the next day flying south to enjoy some tropical warm.
Happy holidays to you and yours and wishes for a happy, healthy New Year.
Thank you, and same to you – so lovely of you to visit! Sounds like you’re having the best of all worlds this Christmas. Good for you – enjoy 🙂
“Space”
You get me, dear Alarna.
Merry Christmas to you!
Oh, absolutely! We need our ‘space’ 🙂 Merry Christmas, my American White knight! 😉
And a wonderful Christmas to you as well, Alarna! 2014 will be amazing, I just know it.
I’m counting on you knowing that! Go wild, Aussa (oh, but I guess I didn’t need to tell you that 😉 !) xo
Have a lovely Christmas Alarna and a special New Year which gets better as 2014 unfolds. Big hug. Ralph xox 😀
Sounds wonderful, Ralph – I’ll drink to that! Be good, but not too good…and may the year bend to your will 🙂 xo
Thanks Alarna 😀 😀 😀 xox
Merry Christmas to you and looking forward to what you have in store for 2014.
Ha! Thanks Nina…I’m looking forward to finding out what that is! 🙂 Hope you get to have a well earned break, and thanks for being such a constant source of inspiration!
Merry Christmas, lovely Alarna! I’m glad to be with you, at least for a moment, today.
XOXO
And I’m privileged to have you, for a moment today! Happy (all day) brunching 🙂 xoxo

Thank you so much, my friend!
Have a wonderful day ahead, always~ Cheers!! 😀
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Alarna!
Hope it is treating you well, and it is all smooth sailing from here, Kate xo
Yes, wild is good. For me, Christmas was suitably quiet and loud in equal measure, plus messy and clean, and happy and sad.
It’s been a big year. Enough love to be happy, enough loss to appreciate all that love. And to feel very human.
Life doesn’t get much better than that, does it?
See you next year Alarna. Happy 2014.
You sum up life’s wild contradictions perfectly, Mr iPants 🙂 Hope you are seeing the year out with a bang (or whisper, if that’s as you prefer). Happy New Year!
Hoping you have had a beautiful, peaceful Christmas and have felt home in your heart. Happy New Year! xx
Nothing says home to me like a herb garden – which is what I’ve been busy with 🙂 Happy New Year, Liz xo
Hello you and sorry to arrive so late to your xmas celebration. I was lying on the couch with a bowl of stew, listening to the girls croon along to the carols and looking at the xmas tree. For me, xmas brings up all kinds of complicated stuff. Love that “go wild quietly.” That’s it, exactly. xoox
Please, no apologies! I am kind of here but not here at the moment, while I wrap my head around the new year and all that. Totally get the Christmas complications. Watching carols with the kids and a bowl of stew…what a cosy scene 🙂 May the warmth of that extend throughout your year! Xoxo
thank you, too. hope yours was merry. 🙂 hugs…
There were smiles, sunshine, fine honest food and wine. Does that count as merry? 🙂 *hugs* to you too xo
oh, the food and wine usually make us think the occasion is singular, dear. let’s just hope that some of the smiles came from us, haha. as for the sunshine, let us hope that it will not boycott us, not yet… hugs back 🙂
